A Big Thank You

For those of you checking in today to see my #1 inspiration. I guess you will have to wait another day as I have some “housekeeping” to do today.

Over the course of my years of running, there have been a lot of people that influenced and inspired me. And there are also many people that I need to thank.

Chuck Hauser, my first (high school) coach. He had inspirational quotes like, “I hope some of you packed a lunch, you’re going to be out there a while.” And, “It may get dark on you slower guys, you may need a flashlight”. Pearls…

Dan Cunkelman, he was the first established (faster) runner to take the time and talk to me, I always remembered that. Thanks, Dan!

Steve Alberti and Bill Fleming, teammates at Robert Morris who helped me transition to college distance running my freshman year. Much thanks.

Joel Stafford, my best friend at Robert Morris, if I was doing a Top 10 of people who inspire my life, you would be high on the list my friend. You continue to inspire me at 55, but running…that’s a different story. I love you brother!

Mark Russo, Dave Tallarico and Scott Gedman, all three RMC teammates. Always working, getting it done. I loved my graduate assistant year when I had the privilege to coach you guys to second straight conference title.

Ted Breault, my friend from Moon Twp. You and your family took me in and made me feel a part of your family. Thank you Breault family.

The Boys on the Bluff, every runner at Duquesne that put up with me and my coaching methods. Especially the ones that I have kept in contact and ran with: Greg Powell and Brent Dragisich. Greg, thank you for pulling my sorry ass in the last five miles of Rachel Carson in 2018!

Paul Hightower, Assistant AD at Duquesne, for always having my back and keeping me on task with my paperwork. I appreciate it.

Jim Lear, friend, rival coach and some one I coached with. Thanks for all the stories and wisdom.

Dave Douglas, trainer at Duquesne. Dave kept me healthy and injury free when I was coaching and trying to “keep up” with my team.

Geo Toomey, my chiropractor and go to guy when I had/have a twinge, ache, pain or break. Thanks for keeping me able to get out there and run 100 mile weeks.

My GAP Relay teammates; Scott Wardle, Elijah Shekinah, Eric Shafer, Gar Bercury, Brett Mason, James Hommes and my brother Mike. Thanks for letting me run with a group of thoroughbreds!

Angelo Bruno, my son, who tried running for a year, didn’t like it. But he did it because he wanted me to be proud of him. You didn’t need to run for me to be proud of you!

My Rachel Carson Trail Run Crew: Bruce Thompson, Scott Digiorno and their daughters, Natalie, Emily and Erin. It was so amazing to share that day with my best friends. Even if you guys had no idea of what was happening.

The guys I now run with in the Low Country. David Adams, Ronald Vargas, Chad Frederick and Dan Workman.

Dennis Cullen, my “guy” in HHI. Anytime, I need someone to run or bike with, I call Dennis. If anything “goes down”, I know you got my back.

Finally, my beautiful and extremely talented daughter, Emma Bruno. Without whom this website could not have happened. Also, the 6th member of my crew.

Over almost 40 years, there have been a ton of people to help my running career, I wish I could a month and properly that everyone. Just know that I appreciate it. THANK YOU!
